Birkin Bread & Breakfast, Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy

The Birkin has both traditional B&B rooms and a couple of apartments, one of which we stayed in They’re in a beautifully renovated building, in the Villanova neighborhood at the foot of the Castello.

Our apartment had two levels, with a double bed on the top floor and a pullout couch on the bottom  (along with two bathrooms).  It’s mostly a white color scheme, and the staircase is opensided, so probably not the best option for very young children, but perfect for a couple or a small family.  Otherwise, you’re fitted out with everything you need, and the owner is very helpful.

The surrounding streets are narrow and pedestrianized, which makes for a great environment, but also makes on-street parking a project, and prohibits driving at certain times.  About 10 minutes walk uphill, however, is a very affordable (€5/day) parking garage, which is a much easier solution.

10 minutes walk in other directions are the main market, some excellent restaurants, and the main shopping street, so the location could not be better.
